Philosophy

There is a need to experience the whole and through this wholeness experience beauty as an integral aspect of cognition. Our potential is to retain the wholeness with which we are born. But modernity fragments us and it is in this fragmented state of being we see the world and philosophize. Naturally, it is a very fragmented philosophising.

Even though all that we can know is within the realm of experience modernity shuns experience as ‘subjective’ and invalidates everyone other than the ‘knowledge’ of the scientist.  Scientist of course use only their mind to find ‘objective’ knowledge.

The whole ‘modern’ knowledge system is thus built on this so-called scientific world view which has to turn all experiences into the realm of thought and mind in order to find place in the academia. Naturally, beauty which can only be experienced is turned into a mental construct which now you can talk about, think about and experimented upon.

It is very important to ponder about the sudden appearance of the idea of embodiment in the ‘scientific’ world after denying the body for several centuries. It seems the cognitive scientists were forced to bring in body in order to make way for the development of artificial intelligence which naturally needed body. But the body is brought back within the control of the mind. Body is something one talks about.

Phenomenology is yet another example of this hijack by the mind. Even though started to bring primacy to experience the ‘followers’ reverted back to the mind.

How do we ‘understand’ and articulate experience is the question? That is how to make explicit what we know implicitly as near to experience as possible. But more important is how do we prepare ourselves to re-experience another’s experience instead of turning the same into another mental idea?

Quite like the manifesto one possibility is to deal with what is not beauty and like making of a curry give the ingredients and hope the reader would do the actual cooking so that they experience the making, smell, colour and finally the taste. But do we have the discipline of holding ideas without concluding. Waiting for the conclusion to happen in experience.
